“Hardly a day goes by when our senses are not bludgeoned by some new outbreak of terrorism in the Middle East. Despite our best efforts at making and keeping the peace, political, economic, and religious tensions often lead to unrest, violence, and riots.”
-Jim Bakker in “Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse”
Major General Robert Mood, head of the UN’s Syrian Observer team that left last week, told Reuters that it’s “only a matter of time” until the government of President Bashar al-Assad falls in Syria.
“It is only a matter of time before a regime that is using such heavy military panel and disproportional violence against the civilian population is going to fall,” Mood told Reuters.
As Syrian forces resume their assault on rebels in the city of Aleppo the US State Department reported their concern that the government is going to massacre civilians in their quest to maintain control of the country.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay asked both sides to spare civilians as a major confrontation is “imminent.”
Pillay spoke of reports of atrocities including snipers killing civilians in Damascus.
