Revelation 6:7-8 NCV When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a pale horse. Its rider was named death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill people by war, by starvation, by disease, and by the wild animals of the earth.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings has declared a health emergency in the city due to an increase in West Nile Virus infections among residents.
Centers for Disease Control states that half the cases of West Nile confirmed this year are in Texas and that 14 of the 26 confirmed deaths were Texans. 2012 has already had more confirmed cases of West Nile Virus in the US than any previous year’s total.
Texas health department officials reported 465 cases of the virus and 17 deaths while noticing the CDC has a lag in reporting cases and deaths.
The declaration by the Mayor follows action by Dallas County officials in declaring an emergency. Aerial spraying of pesticides will begin this week to try and decrease the mosquito population in the city. Officials say spraying is the most effective way to battle mosquitos despite the risks to people being exposed to the chemicals.
Christine Mann of the Texas health department told Fox News that the current number of cases was triple the previous high in all of 2003.
