Central Oklahoma was shaken by a series of earthquakes starting around 1:45 a.m. and lasting through almost 5:20 a.m. Three of the quakes centered around Luther including the strongest quake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale.

Monday morning’s magnitude 4.7 earthquake in Riverside County was followed by more than 100 small aftershocks that radiated northeast, indicating that the quake occurred on a secondary fault of the San Jacinto fault, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. (more…)

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was reported in Anza, Calif.

The Pacific “Ring of Fire” is doing its impression of Jerry Lee Lewis with a “whole lotta shakin’ going on” over the last day. Four earthquakes of a magnitude of 6 or greater shook three points on the “ring.”
The first struck in Chile with a magnitude 6.8 quake. The quake centered about 24 miles north of Vallenar and was felt as far away as the capital city of Santiago. One woman died of a heart attack that local officials attributed to stress brought on by the strong quake. (more…)
