He says that the Iranian weapons are intended to annihilate Israel. Hezbollah MP Walid Sakariya, a retired general, recorded a segment translated by MEMRI (the Middle East Media Research Institute). He told the interviewer that “should Iran acquire a nuclear weapon, it would serve Syrian as well as Iranian interests, namely the eradication of the Jewish state.” He insinuated that the old Syrian Empire which of course included Syria, would be reenergized as a world power again.
