The International Atomic Energy Agency (OIEA) is condemning Iran for the country’s refusal to suspend uranium enrichment despite repeated admonitions from the United Nations.

Thirty-one of the 35 members voted in favor of the resolution condemning Iran, who continues to claim their enrichment is peaceful in purpose. (más…)

There were no new agreements reached in Baghdad last month between Iran and the United Nations in regards any kind of compromise on Tehran’s nuclear plans. However European Union representatives say that Iran has agreed to further talks in Moscow on June 18 y 19. Iran is now willing to discuss curbing its production of high-grade uranium.

The E.U. foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton announced that Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili agreed to focus on the six powers’ demands at the Moscow meeting, during a recent phone conversation. “The Iranians agreed on the need for Iran to engage (talk) en la (six powers’) proposals, which address its concerns on the exclusively peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program,” a spokesman for Ashton said. Dos inspectores de la ONU nucleares patrocinadas estaban en un coche, en su camino hacia un reactor iraní dice que se utiliza para producir isótopos para la investigación médica. Los dos expertos estaban en una misión en las proximidades del Complejo Khandab en la provincia Markazi de Irán cuando el coche patinó y volcó. Uno de los inspectores de Corea del Sur fue asesinado. El segundo inspector, de Eslovaquia, sólo resultó herido. El accidente ocurrió alrededor del mediodía, justo antes de una reunión prevista entre funcionarios iraníes y los inspectores de la OIEA. Irán afirma que el "accidente" la víctima no llevaba puesto el cinturón de seguridad.

Ha habido preocupación por el inspector de Corea del Sur está muerto porque Corea del Norte está en contra de las potencias occidentales y es un jugador importante con Irán en sus aspiraciones nucleares. (más…)

More posturing is being done by the U.S. and European allies who plan to open negotiations and dialog with Iran over their nuclear weapons program. In order for the talks to proceed, la U.S. is demanding the immediate closing and eventual dismantling of a recently completed deep mountain nuclear facility.

European and U.S. diplomats are also calling for Iran to stop producing the high grade uranium fuel and are insisting that Iran not ship their existing stockpiles of fuel out of the country. (más…)
