His Presence

Carol Gonterman

When I started asking the Lord what He would like me to write in a devotion to Him, I found myself humming the most beautiful melody.  Several times during the last month or so I would hear this song with the words in my head.  But, when I would get to a certain verse I would forget the words.

A couple of times the ladies I pray with would try to remember the words as well but were unable to recall them, so we would just hum that part. Last week I asked my friend if she would try to find this song for me.  She did, and we just loved it!  The name of this song is, In Your Presence, Oh God

The song starts out,

“In your Presence that’s where I am strong.”  (Well, thank you Lord!)

“In your Presence that’s where I belong,” (Oh, this is good!)….

“Seeking your face….touching your Grace….” (Where?)  “In the cleft of the Rock.”

“Go where the rivers cannot overflow me….where my feet are on the Rock….I want to hide where the blazing fire cannot burn me….I want to hide where the flood of evil cannot reach me, where I’m covered by His Blood. I want to be where the schemes of darkness cannot touch me.”

“In your Presence, Oh God, You are my firm foundation, I trust in you all the day long….I am your child and your servant.  And, you are my strength and my song!  I’m seeking your face, touching your Grace.  (Where?)  In the cleft of the Rock!

“In Your Presence Oh God!  In Your Presence Oh God! Beautiful, beautiful!”

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful loving God!  The more we focus on His Presence, the more fully we can enjoy life.  The Lord wants us to enjoy His Presence.   Enjoy your day and proclaim your trust in Him.

The Lord declares in Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:5 that He never changes and He will never leave our side.  God also promises that He is our Rock and our Salvation. (Psalm 62:6-7)  Therefore, your relationship with the Lord provides a rock solid foundation for your life.

In the days ahead, we need to know as we move from this life to the next, God’s  Presence beside us will shine brighter with each step.  God says we have nothing to fear because He is with us throughout eternity.

Everything we need now or will ever need our Lord and Savior has provided In His Presence!  Slow down and enjoy the journey in His Presence, because in His Presence is peace!
