Oklahoma Legislature Passes Dismemberment Abortion Bill

Matthew 19:18 ESV “And Jesus said, “You shall not murder…”

Editor’s Note: Throughout the scriptures, God has made it clear that shedding innocent blood is murder, and no murderer will enter heaven. In addition to the death of the unborn baby, abortion also substantially harms the women and many times, families, husbands, boyfriends and a whole sphere of relationships connected to and surrounding each abortion. Often, lifelong guilt and other social, relational, spiritual and even physical problems follow the murder of innocent babes in the womb. Pastor Jim Bakker believes that this issue, abortion, may be the single most significant issue that brings God’s judgment on this nation more than any other.

A day after Kansas’s governor signed a bill banning dismemberment abortions in the state, the Oklahoma senate passed a bill prohibiting the same procedure in their state.

The Senate passed the bill 37-4 and sent the bill to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin.  Fallin, a Republican, has not said if she will sign the bill but she has signed previous anti-abortion measures.

The bill bans doctors from using forceps, clamps, scissors or similar devices to stop a baby’s heart and remove the fetus in pieces.  Statistics show that only 5 percent of abortions in Oklahoma in 2013 were performed with this procedure.

Senator Josh Brecheen described the procedure as “gruesome” and promoted the bill by graphically describing to his colleagues exactly how the baby is removed during the procedure.

Abortion promoters like Planned Parenthood attacked the bill, saying that inflammatory language was used to persuade legislators.  Pro-abortion advocates say the procedure is often safest for women who want to have an abortion.

Missouri and South Carolina are both considering similar bills.

  1. Is this just a way for the laboratories to get their hands on better body parts to experiment on? I don’t see how this is going to deter abortion, won’t they just use more birth inducement means to end a pregnancy? Abortion is still abortion and murder is still murder no matter how it’s done.

  2. This is all well and good, but why isn’t this nation demanding no murder of babies under the guise of planning parenthood and a woman’s right? God is not winking nor nodding as long as this murder of the most innocent continues. We are a bloody nation.
