Your Words Create Your World

“Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth.” Proverbs 6:2

In other words, whether good or bad, our words dominate us. Confession is a very important part of our faith and Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God requires that we have faith to please Him. We can increase our faith by hearing God’s Word according to Romans 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

How do our words affect our faith walk? Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is make unto salvation.” Confession is made for whatever we need whether it is salvation, provision, healing, protection etc, etc.

Jesus said in Mark 11:22, “Have faith in God. In the Greek this phrase literally says, “Have the faith of God.” Or we could say, “Have the God-kind of faith.”

The God-kind of faith is described in Mark 11:23: “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

All of us would like to possess the blessings without any effort on our part. We would like to receive the blessings before confessing them, but Jesus said, “He shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23). At the time we make a faith confession, we don’t have in the natural what we confess. This is because confession precedes possession. We must confess and agree with God’s Word first in order to bring the thing we desire into the realm of reality.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.” Notice that the Apostle Paul didn’t say we are trying or hoping to get the same spirit of faith. And he didn’t say someday we might get it. Paul said, WE HAVE the same spirit of faith. That is present tense, which means we have it NOW!

What is this spirit of faith that we have? We believe and therefore we speak. Believing and speaking the Word is operating is the same principle of faith Jesus talked about in Mark 11:23. We see this principle in the story of the woman with the issue of blood. She said, “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole” (Matthew 9:21). She got exactly what she believed and what she said!

Realize your words will either make you a victor in life or hold you captive. Learn to talk in line with the Word of God. Confess scripture that promises what you desire, and watch your faith rise to the level of your confession!
