Iran stalls for more time

Matthew 24:6 Vous entendrez parler de guerres et de bruits de guerres, mais voyez à ce que vous n'êtes pas inquiet. Ces choses doivent se produire, mais la fin est encore à venir.

Senator Carl Levin is chairman of the United States Armed Services Committee. It is his opinion that an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities by Israel is imminent. Levin told the press that Tehran has been in violation of at least six U.N. résolutions. If Iran continues to refuse U.N. inspectors access of their uranium enrichment facilities and continues their nuclear programs, “then I would say an attack on them by Israel is very likely.”

Iran and the European Union officials were confident that the nuclear conference in Istanbul was a success. What was accomplished? They agreed to meet again!

From the European side, Iran has not threatened to “wipe them off the map.” And, Iran got another five weeks of time to continue their work on nuclear aspirations, unhindered. Diplomats say the very fact there will be further talks with Iran, is considered, “notable progress.”

Iran’s foreign minister said they were ready to resolve all of its nuclear disputesquickly and easilyin a second round of talks with world powers planned for next month in Baghdad. This reporter would like to know, if they were ready to resolve the whole nuclear weapons issue “quickly and easily,” why was that not accomplished at the first meeting.

Israel expressed fears that Iran is playing the U.N. for more time. No substance was achieved at the first round of talks in Istanbul and sanctions were not convincing Iran to back off their nuclear plans. A five week reprieve for Iran does not sit well with Jerusalem’s sense of urgency.

Uri Lubrani, a senior adviser in the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs warned that Iran was manipulating the West in last Saturday’s talks. He recognized it as an “Iranian trick,” from his days as the Israeli Ambassador in Tehran.

Iran President Ahmadinejad said, “The establishment of Zionist regime was a move by the world oppressor against the Islamic world.Ahmadinejad continued, “As the imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map.It is a matter of record that Iran’s president also stated, “He would use a nuclear weapon to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth.”

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad struck a defiant tone just two days ahead of the atomic talks in Istanbul, with United Nations powers, dire, the Islamic state would not surrender its nuclear rightseven under the most difficult pressure”.

In response to Ahmadinejad’s remarks, a spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that, “Malheureusement, this is not the first time we’ve seen such extreme statements from senior Iranian leaders.

Even if an agreement was achieved, do we really believe Iran will honor their agreements? They are already guilty of ignoring half dozen U.N. résolutions.
