מתיו 24:6 אתם תשמעו מלחמות ושמועות של מלחמות, אבל לראות את זה כי אתה לא נבהל. דברים כאלה צריכים לקרות, אבל הסוף הוא עדיין לבוא.
The weather was bad in Afghanistan.. The craft’s four American crew members were part of the NATO-led Security Forces and are presumed to be dead.
It was reported to CNN by a Taliban spokesman, “Yesterday evening, Taliban fighters shot down a helicopter and killed all its passengers in Khanashen Dewalak area near Garmsir, southern Helmand province.”
U.S. Military said, “We cannot yet rule out enemy action,” then added; “insurgents are believed to be responsible for bringing down the CH-47 Chinook helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade.”
This fatal event is all too common when Blackhawk crews are put in harm’s way to protect and reinforce other troops on the ground. Some of the aircraft are brought down by enemy fire, others crash for mechanical reasons and bad weather. This is the worst loss of life for the U.S. forces working with NATO since the war in Afghanistan began in 2001.
קפטן. David Yaryar, a NATO spokesman said that 12 people died last month when a helicopter crashed in Kabul. There was no “insurgent activity in the area” at that time.
One of those reported dead was Staff Sgt. Christopher Brown of Columbus, אוהיו. He was in his fourth tour of duty. סמ"ר. Brown served twice in Iraq and was on his second deployment in Afghanistan. He had earned a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and an Army Commendation Medal. His wife found out about his demise through facebook, hours before the military knocked on her door. Taylor Brown is the mother of two, with one on-the-way.
