New Zealand Hit By Worst Drought In 30 Years

Revelation 6:6 NAS And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine."

The entire north island of New Zealand has been hit with a drought the government is calling the worst in 30 years.

The capital, Wellington, is reported to have only 18 days of water supply left. The south island is feared to start feeling the effects of the drought very soon.

The impact of the drought is so significant that economists have cut the economic growth prediction for the country by 1%. Farmers have reportedly already lost $820 million (U.S. dollars) in revenue to the drought.

Satellite images of the country show the north island as brown rather than the lush green normally seen in the images. New Zealand scientists fear the drought could be a harbinger of climate change.

The chairman of the New Zealand Rural Support Trust has told farmers to write off this growing season and focus on preparing for the next season.
