God Chose You!

Clete Snellenberger

For years I have been a student of God’s Word and have gained so much strength from it.  I have known and memorized Ephesians 1:3 which says that we are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:3-6 — “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5) Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6) To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.  KJV

One day the Holy Spirit brought to my attention Ephesians 1:4.  It states “According as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”

I know that God has a plan and purpose for each person in this life.  Everyone is given a free will to receive God’s design for their life.  If someone chooses God’s plan it makes all the difference as to the outcome.  The word “chosen” means to personally choose.  It is used to denote soldiers who were chosen out of the entire military to go on a special mission to do a special task.

Chosen also conveys the idea of being privileged and honored to be the one chosen.  It also strongly speaks of the responsibility placed on those who are chosen to walk, act and live in a way that is honorable to their calling.

Now, as children of our Heavenly Father, we bear the awesome responsibility of walking worthily of the high calling we have received.  What a wonderful thought that God separated us from the rest of the world and enlisted us in His service.  And think of it!!  He did all of this before He ever hurled the first layers of the earth’s crust into existence.

One will only begin to experience true significance when you accept the fact that God has chosen you, and when you begin to live up to the glorious calling He has placed on your life.

This is what imparts “true significance” to any person’s life.

This is the greatest satisfaction possible.  You are chosen to be in Him.

  1. Plan – “To personally know Him through relationship.”
  2. Purpose – “To show His love, mercy and forgiveness.”

You are fearfully and wonderfully made.  David, writing under the inspiration of God’s Spirit, expressed God’s heart toward people in Psalm 139:1-18 —

“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.  For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them …” KJV

Let these truths go deep inside of you.  You are chosen of the Lord for such a time as this.  God ordained and commissioned you to be part of His family during these prophetic days.  God sees you as special – His chosen vessel.  He has equipped you to overcome any trial in your life.

You are never alone when God is with you.  He promises to never leave or forsake you.

Hebrews 3:5 – “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” NKJV

On those days when discouragement or a sense of worthlessness plague your thoughts, remember, you were chosen by God on purpose for such a time as this!

Encourage yourself with these truths and Praise the Lord!
