Lyme Disease “A Real Public Health Threat”

Matthew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Doctors are sounding the alarm about Lyme Disease and the fact it’s beginning to spread nationwide.

“This is a real public health threat,” said Lyme Disease expert Dr. Richard Horowitz.  “We have to realize that this has spread.  It’s imitating all of these different diseases.  And people really need to understand the signs and symptoms and the unreliability of the blood test.”

Dr. Horowitz is trying to raise awareness of Lyme’s ability to mimic other diseases and because of the blood test’s tendencies to return false negatives, the importance of doctors and nurses looking at the symptoms to consider if Lyme is possible despite the test.

He gave the example of a Philadelphia area man named John who was a healthy landscape worker just four years ago.  He began to experience muscle twitching and eventually was unable to walk or feed himself.  It was only after he developed co-infections to Lyme disease such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever that doctors were able to confirm Lyme.

By then, it was too late for him to be treated by antibiotics and chronic Lyme had set in.  Now, John has to take about 60 pills a day for his condition.

Dr. Horowitz believes that the potential cause of long term Lyme is that the body’s ability to filter toxins is damaged.  Currently he is running studies to see if filtering toxins from the blood can help long term Lyme patients.

  1. My prayers are with your daughter. I myself contracted Lyme Disease back in 2002 on a farm I was visiting here in MO. May I ask what is your daughter’s medical treatment for it that she was given, or is still taking or under going at this time? I had to research it on my own years ago on CDC website for treatment protocol, then asked my own doctor to please order diagnostic Western Blot tests for me, 3 out of 4 titers were high, therefore positive for it. Then under went 10 weeks in home parenteneal services via pic line in arm up to my heart. They made a mistake and waded up 53″ worth of wire in my heart, they left it there due to trouble getting it there in first place. The medical staff in charge of inserting this pic line was suppose to have used a x-ray machine to guide the wire up inside my heart, they did not, oopps, and of course being first time having this done, I wondered why not, but did not ask nor put up fight for them to check first. Only afterwards did they use x-ray machine, that is when they found out they waded up way too much wire hose in my heart. I soaked with my red blood 3 big white towels on floor of hospital while still awake. Funny thing is I asked these technicians, “When did hospitals start carrying big red towels?” They looked at me strangely and replied, “We don’t, that is filled with your blood, it is too much for our janitorial staff to clean up, against policy if you bleed out that much, unsafe, so they have to do clean up themselves they said.” Anyways to say the least, I know the road your loved one is travelling down, and it is not an easy one at all. 2 years worth of antibiotics of all sorts, antifungals, and more. Now I am turning towards herbs and other alternative treatments, over 20 years of personal research and experimentation on myself with these in order to find out what works for me in my own body and chemistry, etc… I try my hardest now to stay out of doctors offices as much as I can, however occassionally I still find myself in one, due to unforeseen incidences out of my control. I much prefer natural, God given plant medicine, over chemically toxic filled lab produced pharmaceutical drugs. Yet when we become desparate we tend to go back to what most people do. I probably said too much already. God Bless Us All. Take care of yourselves.

  2. My daughter has been suffering from Chronic Lyme Disease for the past 21 years, progressively getting worse, and misdiagnosed by many doctors until we found a Lyme Literate MD that began treating her. The road to recovery is long , but with the Lord’s help, she will recover with time. Keeping the faith as we walk through the valley.
