Sopra 15,000 Temperature Records Broken

Sopra 15,000 warm temperature records were broken making March the warmest ever in the United States according to a report released today by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Every state in the nation reached at least one warm temperature record during March with almost half the warm temperature records occurring with the nighttime temperature. In 21 casi, the nighttime temperature was warmer than the day’s previous high temperature record.

The weather pattern that lead to a record 25 states east of the Rocky Mountains having their warmest March in history also led to cooler than normal weather in Washington, Oregon and parts of California.

The year-to-date totals released by NOAA also showed a record warm temperature for the US. The average temperature of 42 degrees was 6 degrees above the long-term average. Twenty five states east of the Rockies had their warmest first quarter in history with sixteen of those states having the quarter rank among their ten warmest in history.
