Iran Repeats – We’re Not Building A Bomb

Rev 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

“Hardly a day goes by when our senses are not bludgeoned by some new outbreak of terrorism in the Middle East.  Despite our best efforts at making and keeping the peace, political, economic, and religious tensions often lead to unrest, violence, and riots.”

-Jim Bakker in “Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse”

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, speaking in Farsi through translators, during an interview on France 24 satellite television, “Uranium enrichment is our right,” and “is not a step towards a bomb. There have been lies about our program… Enriching uranium to 20% is not a step towards a bomb,” he continued. Ahmadinejad hinted that Iran might be open to stopping 20% enrichment if the United Nations offered significant concessions.

Instead of concessions, the Security Council of the U.N. issued six resolutions demanding Iran suspend all uranium enrichment. It has also imposed four sets of sanctions against Iran, to which Western powers have added more economic sanctions. The U.N. is especially intent on getting Iran to stop enrichment to 20% because that is just a few technical steps short of bomb grade nuclear fuel.

Ahmadinejad asked, “Why should the 20 percent enrichment create doubt? The Western powers have nuclear bombs. Should we trust them? Which is more dangerous: an atomic bomb or the 20 percent (enriched nuclear fuel)? We have solid proposals that will be presented at the right time,” he said. “Iran deserves a change in behaviour (from the West). The language used against us is not the right language to use.” Ahmadinejad protested, “Why does no one in the Western governments protest when they (Israel) threaten us?”

According to diplomats who attended a closed-door briefing by the United Nations nuclear agency officials on the Iranian situation, it would appear that Tehran is attempting to sanitize their Parchin facility. New satellite imaging shows “ground scraping activities,” the dismantling of buildings and other cleanup work at a site the IAEA has been interested in visiting, suggesting Iran is trying to remove evidence.

A former senior IAEA official, Robert Kelley said that if there were any uranium traces at the site the agency’s inspectors were still likely to find them. “If Iran is washing out the building and equipment outside, and there is actually uranium present, letting the uranium contaminated water run across the parking lot means the IAEA is going to have a 100 percent chance of finding it.”

No agreements were reached during the last “talks” with Iran. More talks are scheduled in Moscow on June 18th and 19th.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran said he does not expect the next talks to yield a breakthrough. “We are not expecting miracles at the next nuclear meeting in Moscow.”
