Warning of Tsunami of Hate as Middle-East Tensions Flare

Luke 21:9-10: [Jesus said] "When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away." Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom."

Iran and its quest to become a nuclear nation is a grave and immediate threat to the United States, Israel and to world peace. Former US Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton suggested that Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s assessment of the Iranian situation may be wrong. Panetta says Tehran could fabricate a nuclear weapon “within a year.” Many experts are speculating that we do not have that much time.

John Bolton warns, “Time is running out for both Israel and the U.S.” and argued that a preemptive strike was needed to halt Tehran. “Iran’s plan for a second Holocaust must be stopped.”

Syrian government forces continue to violate the U.N. cease-fire agreement. President Bashar Assad’s army has been attacking the citizens of Homs relentlessly, which has been battered brutally by artillery for weeks.

The Palestinian Authority President Salam Fayyad had a scheduled meeting this week with Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Without giving any reasons why, Fayyad refused at the last minute to attend their conference. A Palestinian delegation did however, hand-deliver a letter from Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. The letter detailed Abbas’s grievances over the failure of the peace process. The delegation was initially supposed to be a top-level meeting led by Fayyad, but it ended up a low key affair after officials confirmed at the last minute the Palestinian Authority Premier would not be taking part.

The main reason for the letter was a meager attempt to embarrass Israel and put “put Mr. Netanyahu on the spot.” The Palestinian Arab leaders wanted to place blame on Israel for the collapse of the peace process. Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath reported, “Israel says it wants negotiations without preconditions, but the Palestinians have sought a settlement freeze before returning to the table. Netanyahu confirmed he would respond with his own letter to Abbas “within two weeks.”

Israel, in return for a false peace, has not been willing at any juncture to make more concessions of land for the P.A.’s irrational mandates as a gesture of cooperation. The more land they give up, the more dangerous their borders become.

The Palestinians are not really interested in finding a solution for peace with Israel. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman of Israel said they would rather have someone to blame for all their problems.

Dr. Moshe Kantor, speaking for a press conference at Tel Aviv University, warned “The Middle East conflict has been imported into Europe and serves as an excuse for anti-Semitic attacks against the Jewish citizens of Europe. This is absolutely unacceptable and should be removed at all levels, from the enforcement authorities to government officials. There should be zero tolerance for the idea that it is natural that what happens in the Middle East will affect the Jews of Europe or elsewhere.”

Dr. Kantor, president of the European Jewish Congress further stated, there could be a “tsunami of hate” if there is an escalation of hostilities in the Middle East or if Israel strikes Iran’s nuclear facilities. Kantor would like to see European legislation to guard against anti-Semitic attacks on Jewish communities and to protect the Jews from violent crimes and incitement, which is flourishing in the mosques of Europe.
