China Warns Washington Over Debt Ceiling

Revelation 6:5,6 NCV When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse, and its rider held a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. The voice said, "A quart of wheat for a day's pay, and three quarts of barley for a day's pay, and do not damage the olive oil and wine!"

The biggest foreign creditor of the United States is telling the U.S. Congress it needs to get the debt ceiling impasse resolved before the country reaches default.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhu Guangyao said that “the clock is ticking” and called on U.S. leaders to extend the debt ceiling before the country runs out of cash on October 17th.

“We ask that the United States earnestly takes steps to resolve in a timely way the political issues around the debt ceiling and prevent a US debt default to ensure the safety of Chinese investments in the United States,” Mr Zhu told reporters in Beijing. “This is the United States’ responsibility.”

U.S. economists estimate that China holds at least $1.3 trillion of the U.S.’s debts.

Zhu then referenced the downgrade of the United States’ credit rating by Standard & Poor’s after a budget deadlock in 2011.

“We hope the United States fully understand the lessons of history,” Zhu said.
