Common Sense with Mike Huckabee (Pt. 1)

I was truly thrilled to recently have the honor of interviewing Governor Mike Huckabee, a born-again Christian and ordained Southern Baptist minister, on our show. It was one of the top 10 highlights of my life right alongside interviews I have done with Presidents Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. I believe Mike Huckabee is a man raised up for this hour, and he has a message for us – a message I was honored to help him get out to the world on our television broadcast. Governor Huckabee has written extensively about his desire to see this nation return to the core principles that most of us share in his new book, “God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy,” which is available on our website.

After doing these amazing shows with Mike Huckabee, I can’t help but have renewed hope for our country and the turn-around we could possibly see in the spiritual atmosphere of this nation. Governor Huckabee thrills me and so many others with his simple, common sense approach to every economic and political crisis we face. His logic confronts the influence of today’s “bubbles in Modern culture” (mainly on the two coasts) that do not represent the hearts of those who live in middle-America.  Lori said it beautifully, “This is what I love about you: you speak the truth with boldness and common sense.”

I love it too, and it’s time we all stood up to speak the truth with boldness and common sense.

One of the more profound things Governor Huckabee said in his time with us is this: “The biggest gap in America is not economic or cultural, it’s spiritual.” I can (and I know you can too) give a great big “Amen!” to that statement.

I have hope for change in America when I hear Godly men like Governor Huckabee say that things can change – and he isn’t backing off how they can change. He is calling key government agencies and policies into being held accountable and I, for one, think it’s high time! For far too long we have been complacent about those we allow to lead us and many, including Christians, have resigned ourselves to an inevitable outcome for our country. We should take to heart the saying, “You’ll end up where you’re headed if you don’t change direction!”

Some may say that if we truly believe all that we are preaching about and the signs in the heavens pointing to the soon return of Jesus, what’s the point in hoping for change, or hoping for a return to the values and principles of the founding fathers of this nation? Some may ask, “Aren’t the red lights of prophecy already flashing, and aren’t we rushing towards the end of all things as we know it? What can we do now to change anything?” To those I would say, “Do you realize that God is waiting for our response to all of the events of the End Times, and do you understand that how we respond will determine how God deals with us, individually and as a country?”

I truly hope that we, as Christians, can look into the Book of Revelation and understand that God called His people to action – Jesus wants us to be very alive and vibrant and being about the work of the ministry. Part of that work is not being afraid to speak the truth with boldness and using common sense.  It is not in just speaking the truth either.  It’s in living it.

  1. Very nice interview with brother Huckabee. Thank you, brother Jim.
I second that great big “Amen”!

I’ve been praying & declaring to the Father for exposure of our (American) leaders for years now; and finally seeing the beginning (underlined !) manifestations of such just last year.

    Brother Jim, above you stated;
“Do you realize that God is waiting for our response to all of the events of the End Times,
    &
do you understand that how we respond
will determine how God deals with us,
    individually
    &
    as a country?”

This quote of yours should be posted up high on billboards all across our country, especially where sin abounds (the coastal regions / cities). Even billboards with lighting so to be seen 24/7. The infamous refrigerator magnets for those of us who dare. A weekly ad in the papers / magazines / TV ? ? ?
As with selling any sure-fire product, to super saturate this nation of ours with that above quote would surely spark manifestations though out our blessed nation. How about a website address after the quote that briefly states what’s sup along with the advantages of having Jesus. Sponsored by “NOW”.
I double dare someone out there to step up to this plate.

Be a great project for the Church conglomerate. I mean we’re looking @ an islamic caliphate, so why not a Church conglomerate. Are we still that divided? I mean if one politician can raise & spend hundreds of millions of dollars within 12 to 18 months so to be “president”, how much more so the Church???

The prophetic word right NOW is that we (as the Church) have a sore & therefore basically a weak or no backbone. We won’t move because of the “pain”.

It’s beyond time to be stretched and limber & to be in shape, to drop that weight that strains our back & so easily besets us {Heb 12:1}.

    Because of Jesus,
