A U.S. of A. has been judged and found wanting according to the Book of Isaiah, just like ancient Israel. There is a close parallel between Israel and the United States. Both lands were founded with Godly principles. Judgment comes because of complacency, sin without repentance and apostasy which results in the hedge of God’s protection being lifted.
Contudo, Isaiah’s prophecy has a deeper message. The ultimate audience of Isaiah’s message is the nation of Israel, the Middle East and ultimately the whole world. May those with ears, hear the message of impending danger and destruction. The Messiah Jesus (Jeshua) is going to return to defeat the spirit of antichrist. One has to see and understand the past before you will be able to comprehend the future. Assim, let us look at the message of Isaiah, the prophet of old, to search out the global warnings of things to come. We can already see the stage being set, the players are on the platform and the eternal drama is beginning to unfold before us. The alignment of nations and their allies are coming together against Israel.
Keep a close eye on Syria and her allies. Syria is at the heart of the old Assyrian Empire which also includes Turkey, Iraque, Jordan and Egypt. Nineveh was the capital city of the old Assyrian empire, which is now located within the modern city of Mosul, Iraque. The ancient Assyrians were known for their abilities in warfare as much as for brutality and inhumane violence. They believed their mission was to wipe out secular nationalism and impose their form of Islamic religion on people under their domination. Likewise, we see that heritage has influenced and has affected the Middle East of today from the Egyptian political upheaval to the civil war in Syria.
Current news reports verify that the same Muslim philosophy and ideology of ancient Assyria still exists. Eyewitness accounts from the Syrian massacres are slowly emerging and describing shadowy gunmen with large knives slaughtering whole families in their homes. Targeting the most vulnerable in poor farming villages seems to be the order of the day. Western nations have expelled Syrian diplomats in a coordinated move against President Bashar Assad’s regime over the continued killing of his own Syrian people.
A man who hid in his Houla home said, “It’s very hard for me to describe what I saw, the images were incredibly disturbing. I saw women and children without heads, their brains or stomachs spilling out of their bodies.”
Reports of high daily death tolls are becoming the norm in Syria where over 14,000 people have been killed since the anti-regime revolt erupted in March 2011, according to the British-based Syrian Observatory.
As an interesting side note, I would like to point out that in the Book of Isaiah; the antichrist is referred to as “the Assyrian.” The early church held the belief that the “Assyrian” was the antichrist. You will also find “the Assyrian” used in that context in the Book of Micah. This could be a clue that the antichrist might have a Muslim type background or ancestry that has come out of the old Assyrian Empire.
Hippolytus of Rome (170 - 235) was the most important 3rd-century theologian of the Christian Church in Rome. He said most definitely that “the Assyrian is another name for the Antichrist.”
Victorinus, bishop of Pettau, was martyred for his faith in Jesus and the author of the most complete ancient commentary on the Book of Revelation. In his commentary Bishop Victorinus wrote “the Assyrian” mentioned in Micah 5:5 is the Antichrist: “When the Assyrian comes into our land, and when he treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him.”
It is all very interesting to think about. The important thing however is to be prepared for the coming of our King of kings and Lord of lords.
Keep your eyes on current events. In these events you will see powerful signs and warnings for the whole earth coming out of Israel and the Middle East. For by all evidences, these things are even now coming to pass.
Looming on our horizon are all of the events spoken of by the prophets of God and everything that Jesus warned us about in Matthew 24.
