A suicide bomber killed nine people near the Zein al-Abidin mosque in Damascus as reports continue to filter out to the world that the Syrian cease fire may not be holding firm.

Twenty people were also injured in the blast, the first of two that hit Damascus on Friday. The second blast happened in an industrial area with no reports of casualties.

United Nations Secretary General Ban K-moon stated the Syrian government is “in contravention” of the UN brokered peace plan authored by Kofi Annan. The six point peace plan Mr. Annan brokered was done on behalf of the UN and the Arab League.

Opposition activists reported that government forces killed up to 70 people in an attack on homes in Hama while state run media reported the house was a “bomb factory” and that 16 people had died in an explosion. Government restrictions on the media are making verification of reports difficult for foreign news sources.
