What Do You Believe?

Clete Snellenberger

Matthew 19:26 — Jesus had just addressed the youth with great wealth and He declared: “With God all things are possible to them that believe.”

Paul said in Galatians 3:22 — “That the promise of faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.”

Mark 9:17-24 — This is the account of a father with a son who had seizures.  The father said to Jesus, “If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”   Jesus said to him, “If you can believe all things are possible to him who believes!”   The father cried out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

Mark 11:22-24 — Jesus said, “Have faith in God!  Whoever says to this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, “but believeth…”  Here’s the key!  Just believe what God has spoken.  His Word is true.

John 9:35-38 —   The blind man was healed by Jesus.  He asked, “Who is He, that I may believe in Him?”  Jesus said unto him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”  :  Then he said, “Lord, I believe!”

John 6:28,29 — On the Sea of Galilee His disciples asked Him; “What shall we do that we may work the works of God?”  Verse 29:  Jesus answered and said to them:  “This is the work of God that you believe in Him whom I sent!”

John 10:31 — “These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.”

Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Do you want to please God!  Then have faith!  The exercising of our faith pleases God!

Hebrews 11:6-11 – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. 7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 8) By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9) By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10) For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 11) Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.”

All of these people listed in the Hall of Faith had to believe what God told them in order for their faith to work.

Your faith will never exceed your belief in His promises!  You must believe to have faith. Your life reflects what you believe.

An 85 year old lady stood in a testimony service and proclaimed:  “All things are possible to them who believe!”

Pastor James Willett, my brother-in-law, wrote these thoughts in his book, “You Were Created to Believe.”

“What you believe governs, controls and manages your thoughts, actions and whole life!

What you believe is who you are!  You succeed or fail based on what you believe!

Attitudes proceed from your belief force!

What you believe literally dictates everything about you!”

Saint Augustine said, “Faith is to believe what you do not see — the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”

Key Thought:  It’s not what you know—-It’s what you believe!

BELIEVING is the platform of a fruitful and blessed life.  Only believe!
