Conflict of the Ages

What we are seeing in Jerusalem and across Israel is not just “business as usual” in the Middle East, but a “conflict of the ages.” There is a spiritual battle that has been intensifying from the beginning of time; the battle between “good and evil” as it has been all too commonly called.

All of the end of the age prophecy is centered in the Middle East and revolves around God’s covenant people (the Jews), God’s covenant land (Israel) and God’s Holy City (Jerusalem). The Bible makes it clear how the world’s nations will and are treating the Jews.

“I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah (Israel) will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the LORD. “I will keep a watchful eye over the house of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a fire pot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.” (Zechariah 12:2-4, 6)

Today’s events are spiraling seemingly out of control, but yet there is rhyme and reason behind the events. God is in control. Israel and the Jews will remain at the center of the world’s turmoil, exactly as foretold by the ancient prophets in the Holy Scriptures.

We just had a visit from “Isaac” in the form of a storm to hit our coastline exactly to the day, 7 years after “Katrina.” We ask for signs and then we pay no attention when they come. Abraham had two sons, Isaac (the Jews) and Ishmael (the Arabs.) They are still contending for the land of Israel, even today and claiming the inheritance of Jerusalem as their own.

And God said to Abraham, “Yes, your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.” (Genesis 17:19) Well that ought to solve the whole problem about Israel belonging to the Jews and Jerusalem as their capital. Why would anyone have a problem knowing that our God is the Most High God. Why is there a controversy over Jerusalem being the capital of Israel? Israel is not only our strongest ally in the Middle East; Israel is our only true friend in the Middle East.

John Bolton, former United States Ambassador to the United Nations says that Israel should not wait any longer to attack Iran. If Iran becomes a nuclear nation, they will attempt to wipe Israel off the map as they have threatened. Force is the only thing that Tehran understands. They think that “talks” are a sign of weakness.

It is shameful to think that the United States would even allow our best friend in the Middle East to fight the Iranian nuclear battle alone. Israel will fight under the star of David, even as little David came against the giant named Goliath, saying “Who do you think you are coming against the God of Israel?”

As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 9:33)

“See how your enemies are astir, how your foes raise their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people [the Jews]; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.” With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you— the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them….” ( Psalm 83:2-8)

This list of ancient peoples is the same list of Arab/Muslim nations now fanatically desiring to push the Jews into the Mediterranean Sea, that the nation of Israel will never exist again.

Yes, this is the battle of the ages. It is a spiritual battle and a physical struggle against the powers of darkness by the soldiers of light. We are truly news soldiers in a very old war!
