Luke 21:20 “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.”
Israel is one of the smallest nations in the entire world. It measures 260 miles long with 112 miles of coastline. Israel is 60 miles at its widest and around 7 miles at its narrowest point.
This tiny little country is surrounded by twenty-two hostile Arab/Islamic dictatorships that are 640 times the size of Israel.
There is much turmoil in Israel today. They are persecuted and surrounded by enemies—Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, etc. But this hatred and persecution of Israel is only a hint of what will happen in the end times. (Matthew 24:15-21)
The United States is now heading up war games in Jordan with other Arab nations, right in Israel’s backyard, and Israel is not welcome to participate in the largest war games in the Middle East within the last 10 years. Britain, France, Spain and Australia are also included in the “Eager Lion 2012,” the code name for the war games now being staged in Jordan.
Israel recently celebrated their founding as a nation 64 years ago. The Palestinians celebrated what they called “Nakba” in honor of Israel’s founding. Nakba means “Catastrophe” in Arabic. They celebrated with violent demonstrations across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The United States and her allies demand that Iran suspend their high-level uranium enrichment and close the bunker at Fordow. Western diplomats say these concessions must be agreed upon at the upcoming Baghdad talks this week.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran must cease all enrichment of uranium and give up any existing supplies and stressed the point that a clear timetable should be set. Iran must demonstrate it has taken action to cut down its nuclear program. Israel continues to believe that Iran is playing the West for more time, so they can enrich even more fuel and develop their nuclear weapons.
Iran announced this week in defiance of the West that they will not close their underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordow and they will not stop enriching uranium to 20%. Before they even go to the meeting, they are making this announcement.
What is left to talk about, other than the Iranian lies spoken at the last talks with the U.N. a month ago? In April, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Iran was “ready to resolve all issues very quickly and simply”.
The Iranian negotiating team is not really interested in a comprehensive settlement with the United Nations. They will be in Baghdad to buy more time for the development of nuclear bombs. Their attitude is, if they can eventually prove they already have the technology, what can the West do to stop them then? Nothing!
“We have managed to bypass the red lines the West created for us,” said Hamidreza Taraghi with a smile, an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The West had said no to any enrichment, “but here we are, enriching as much as we need for our nuclear energy program.”
Israel’s Massad has been urgently warning the world for months that Iran was manipulating the member nations of the United Nations while they stalled for time. Iran already has the knowledge to enrich the uranium and has continued to expand its nuclear capabilities with the likely intent of producing a nuclear weapon. This threat now places Israel in mortal danger.
Ahmadinejad has long questioned the existence of the Holocaust, answered Israel’s warnings by saying that “Israel is nothing more than an annoying bug, a mosquito to be swatted.” He has repeatedly derided Israel. “With the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism.”
Israel also faces the threat of a new Iranian/Egyptian alliance if Hisham El-Bastawisi is elected in Egypt. He just promised that building good relations with Iran would be one of his highest priorities. Israel already faces a northern “axis of evil” by the alliance between Iran, Syria and Lebanon. The new Cairo regime is bound to be more anti-Israel than it was under Mubarak.
Indeed, Israel is surrounded by enemies on all sides. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Shalom!
