Nineteen Dead In Al Qaeda Fighting In Yemen

“Hardly a day goes by when our senses are not bludgeoned by some new outbreak of terrorism in the Middle East. Despite our best efforts at making and keeping the peace, político, económico, and religious tensions often lead to unrest, violencia, and riots.”

Nineteen people were killed in southern Yemen on Wednesday when government troops fought with Al Qaeda operatives.
Militants have been holding land in southern Yemen and the government is using assistance from the United States to drive them from the occupied territory. US troops are working from a desert air base near the battle sites and are mostly used to help coordinate the efforts of the Yemeni army.
Thirteen of the dead were Al Qaeda operatives. Four soldiers and two local militiamen were killed in the various assaults according to a military hospital official.
A surgeon from Jordan suspected to be heading to the region to help Al Qaeda was arrested as well.
