“Save those who are about to be led to their death; rescue those who are about to be killed. If you say, ‘We don’t know anything about this.’ God, who knows what’s in your mind, will notice. He is watching you, and he will know. He will reward each person for what he has done”
Proverbs 24:11-12 NCV
Not far from where you live in America, there is a girl. Pregnant, afraid, unable to support herself, under the rule of a man wanting to “get rid of the problem,” be it her husband, father or boyfriend.
Her man, the abortion clinic, her friends all tell her the same thing: “It’s a little bit of tissue … you’ll never feel a thing…it will be over in a few minutes and you can go on with your life…”
She will have an abortion. She feels she has no other choice. If she doesn’t, how will she survive? The man she loves will leave her. She’d have nowhere to live, nowhere to go. She has no skills, no one to turn to.
We want to change that.
What is Lori’s House?
All Lori ever wanted to be was a mother. She was raised in a middle-class, church-going family, but in her teens she turned away, and began to live a life filled with “sex, drugs and rock and roll.”
Lori began a relationship at the age of 17 with a man who became her first husband. The marriage turned out to be a nightmare of violence and abuse. She escaped the pain with more drugs. Then she found out she was pregnant.
For Lori, abortion was never a thought, but to keep her spouse, it was the only answer. Five times Lori became pregnant. Five times he demanded she “get rid of it.” The last abortion left complications that caused Lori to have a total hysterectomy at the age of 22.
Lori is determined to do all she can to keep other girls from going through the pain and tears that she has shed over the loss of her five babies.
Lori’s House will provide a place of ministry, love, rest, learning, fellowship and caring with its main goal of saving babies and caring for their mothers.
There will be no charge to a young woman who wants to live at Lori’s House through her pregnancy. The ministry, through generous donations, will provide assistance for food, clothing and medical care. Education and job training will be provided and an individual program will be tailored depending on each girl’s special needs.
Through it all, she will be comfortable, safe and “at home.”
“It is a girly place,” said Lori. “The colors and décor are selected to be cozy and feminine. I want the girls to feel loved and good about themselves and the choice they have made to give life.”
