Arise, Shine for Thy Light Has Come

Betty Dewhirst

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; even now it shall spring forth.  For I will even make a way, a way in the wilderness.  I will make a way for my people, to give drink to my chosen ones.  And rivers, and rivers, and rivers shall flow in the desert and rivers of waters shall flow in the wilderness.  For I have formed myself a people, and they shall show forth my praise.”  Isaiah 43: 18-19

Today I found myself singing this scripture chorus which had a powerful anointing on it during the Charismatic renewal.  Today, that anointing is still there as one begins to sing and worship from his or her heart.

This is a new day for God’s people, those who love Him and are called by His Name.

Isaiah 60:1 reads:  “Arise, shine for thy light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.  Darkness covers the earth, and gross darkness the people, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.  Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

This is a day when we, in our lifetime, have never seen such darkness.  The enemy has many blinded to what is really happening and many are not even aware that they have been subtly sold a bill of goods by the evil one.  If we ever needed to hear from God, it is in this hour!

We are becoming aware that unless there is revival in the church and in our nation, we as a nation, are headed for disaster.  Already, we are being told by those who consider us infidels that we will burn.  Unbelievable!

The Church of Jesus Christ must awaken from their slumber and begin to rise up to the occasion!

If we are hungering and thirsting after righteousness we will be kept from being deceived by the evil one.  If we bow to the world system and all its evil influence and the lies that are prevailing, we may very well be deceived!

Our only hope in this hour is Revival!  God is raising up a remnant of those who truly love the Lord, and have yielded their lives to Him.  The Word tells us, in Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives even unto death.”

The Amplified version is even more powerful.  It reads:  “And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when they faced death.”

Here in America, we have not had to pay a price for our faith as those in Communist nations and Muslim nations have.  We have had a very comfortable life.  However, a new day is now dawning!

History has shown us that during persecution the church comes together and forgets their differences.  They begin to function as the Body of Christ.  The sleeping giant must again rise up!

America needs a mighty awakening.  We have been taught, trained, and groomed for such a time as this.  As Esther, we must pay the price with a heart attitude, that if we perish, we perish, but we must persevere in faith!  We must grow up in Christ and as Jesus did while in His earthly body, we must be willing to be obedient to what is required of us, no matter what the cost.

For the joy that was set before Him, Jesus willingly endured the cross.  “Therefore, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the Throne of God!”  Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
