The Still Small Voice Within! (Pt. 2)

Think back about the times in your life that you know of when God spared or delivered you out of situations.  Thank God for His faithfulness.  The Lord has been in your past, He is in your present and He is already in your future.  I’m sure once we get to Heaven we will learn about many tragedies that were averted because of the goodness and mercy of our Lord.  God’s continues to speak to His people through His still small voice continue.

God always goes before you.  If you will look back in your life to things that have happened, you might recall the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit talking to you.  Maybe it was just going down the road and God told you to go the other way.  Did you ever have a knowing that you were to speak to someone about God and you just couldn’t do it?  Often the fear of what others think or say can hinder us from being bold for the Lord. The Still Small Voice Within! (Pt. 1)

God can do anything!  You know God can do far more than you could ever imagine, guess or request in your wildest dreams!  God does it not by pushing us around, but by working within us.  His Spirit works deeply and gently in us and speaks through that still small voice within.

One Fall day I was working outside raking leaves.  It was the time of the year when snakes come out.  You can’t see them with all the leaves on the ground.  My three sons were with me.  One was barefoot and the other wore boots.  My one son wearing boots wanted to play in the back of the yard, but, I had not raked that area yet.

I said, “Okay, but be careful.”  Well, it wasn’t long before he came back screaming that a snake had bit him! Continue reading

The Power of Words

Recently I was very inspired by a devotion written by Rick Renner from his book, Sparkling Gems.  Below are some excerpts from his teaching as well as my thoughts on this.  I pray it will make a difference in your life as it has in mine.  Some of the principles may be familiar to you but it is always good to go back to the Word of God. What does God say about what we say?

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised.”

Amplified version ”So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess, and our acknowledgement of it, for He who promised is reliable, sure and faithful to His Word.”

A Missionary Story

From the time I was a young girl I was deeply moved whenever we would have a missionary speaker at our church. I would find myself at the altar at the end of the service, and would imagine being overseas someday as a missionary. The Lord put this in my heart and through the years it never left.

I received Jesus into my heart when I was in the sixth grade, and I endeavored to serve Him as best I knew how. I was married when I was not quite nineteen and by the time I was 26, I had five children.

The Lord made it very real to me that my children were my main mission field and that when they were grown my husband and I would be going overseas as missionaries. I am so grateful that my husband, Stuart, was a godly husband who loved the Lord and was a real spiritual leader to our family. Stuart received his call to the ministry after being a music teacher in public schools for a number of years. Continue reading

All Glory To God!! (Pt. 2)

Now, remember the question I asked the Lord at the beginning? “Lord, how do you get glory from a woman who killed her two unborn children?” Well, we’re getting closer to the answer, so let’s continue —

A very special man named Gary came into my life! If you could look back to the beginning of our friendship, you would not have believed that our meeting was part of God’s plan.

Initially we were unequally yoked and I really didn’t want to have anything to do with him. I was convinced that Gary was not to be in my life and it wasn’t until God kept dealing with my heart to give him a chance. Continue reading

All Glory To God!! (Pt. 1)

I have had such a full life since I surrendered my heart to the Lord that sometimes I just don’t know where to start in sharing my experiences. So, today I’ll start with a question that I posed to the Lord one day in my prayer closet. It was, “Lord, how will you get the glory from a woman who killed her two unborn children?”

When I was a young woman I had two abortions. Now I’m 70 and I still remember those hard times very vividly. My husband and I had divorced and I had two little girls. I found out the day my divorce was final that I was pregnant again! Now what was I going to do? I decided to put my baby girl up for adoption. Continue reading

Our Hope of Glory!

All of us here at Morningside send our prayers and greetings for you to experience a wonderful Passover and Resurrection season. During this special time of the year many turn their attention to bunny rabbits, egg hunts and new clothes. For Christians, this time has much greater significance.

Devout followers of Jesus will take extra time to give thanks to our Lord for the great price He paid for our freedom from poverty, sickness and sin. Christ made the way for us to be restored to God. We have been bought with a price – the most expensive gift ever given—the precious blood of Jesus. Continue reading

What Ever Happened To Hope?

I Corinthians 13:13 says, “And now abide Faith, Hope and Love, these three, but the greatest of these is Love.”

When Jesus makes all things new and His followers are ushered into the eternal state, “Faith” will no longer be necessary because the redeemed will see God face to face. “Hope” will no longer be necessary because their hope will have been perfectly realized. But “Love” will remain, and it will finally be known without the taint of sin. But for now these three remain, so let us look at the word called Hope.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now Faith is the substance (tangibility), of the hoped for (or anticipated), the evidence (proof) of things not seen.” It is an absolute conviction—based on the assurance of God’s unchangeable and perfect character that God’s promises will be fulfilled. Continue reading

Too Much Pride

Is there anyone out there who has been in trouble and you wouldn’t ask anyone for help?

Too much pride can get you into a lot of trouble. I know from personal experience. Pride always comes before a fall!

Here’s my story:

When I was about 24 years old, I was married and had three children. We were living in a trailer and had no money. My husband was working but we just barely made a living. I was determined to not ask for help from my family or the church. NO WAY!! Continue reading

The Real You!!

Years ago way back in the 60’s & 70’s (I’m telling my age!) there was a TV game series called “To Tell the Truth”. Many of us “oldies” remember this popular show. The program consisted of a moderator, three contestants, and a panel of celebrities. The three contestants tried to fool the four-member celebrity panel into guessing who was really telling the truth about who they were.

The celebrity panelists, one at a time, would question the three contestants (addressing them by No. 1, No. 2. and No. 3) in an attempt to expose the liars and determine who was telling the truth. Continue reading
