When somebody is sick, or depressed, or suffering, that is not the time to put them down for not being “spiritual” enough. That’s the time to reach out in love and compassion, with understanding, tact, and spiritual discernment. That’s the time to throw an arm around that person and say, “Come on, you’re my brother and I love you. Don’t give up. Don’t give in; don’t fall away from the fellowship of believers. You can make it, and I’m going to help you! I’ll stand with you every step of the way.
