Islamic Terrorists Destroy Tomb of Prophet Jonah

The Islamic terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria has destroyed the tomb of the Prophet Jonah.

The terrorists gleefully went into the tomb with sledgehammers and took turns destroying the resting place of the Old Testament prophet.  The terrorists filmed their efforts and posted them online saying it was the will of Allah for the tombs to be destroyed.

The members of the terrorist group say it is against the teachings of Islam to give special attention to tombs and it doesn’t matter if the tomb is for another faith.  If the tomb is within their land, the group says they have the right to destroy it.

The tomb of the prophet Seth was also destroyed by the terrorists but no video of that destruction was posted online.

Iraqi authorities also announced the discovery of 53 bodies south of Baghdad who appear to have been executed by Islamic terrorists.  An investigation is underway to determine who ordered the killings.

Denver Area Pastor Dies In Mission Trip Accident

Congregations throughout the Denver, Colorado area area mourning with Grace Community Church who lost their pastor in a tragic accident while on a mission trip.

Pastor Terry Broadwater was in the Himalayas with his son and other church members conducting services.  The pastor and the mission team would hike to small towns in the high peaks and minister to the villagers.  The church said the pastor apparently slipped during one of the hikes and fell off a cliff.

“It is with extremely heavy hearts we share the news that, as a result of a climbing incident, Pastor Terry Broadwater went to be with the Lord today while on a mission trip to India,” Church leaders said in a statement. “Terry was on the trip with his oldest son and several members of Grace’s leadership and pastoral team. At the time of the accident Terry and the team were in a remote part of the Himalayas.”

“Due to the location, further details are taking time to be developed and efforts in country are being coordinated between Terry’s family, local Indian police, Grace leadership, and the U.S. Embassy in Delhi.”

The trip was said to be a way the pastor melded his passion for hiking and being outdoors with the gospel.  He had been married to his wife Jo Ann for 32 years and leaves her behind with three children.

Massive Earthquake Shakes Mexico and Guatemala

A major earthquake woke up Mexico and Guatemala Monday morning, leaving at least four people dead.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck around 6:23 a.m. local time on the Pacific Coast about a mile from Puerto Madero on the Guatemalan border.  The quake was initially measured at 7.1 but reduced to 6.9.

Two people died in the Guatemalan town of Pati when their home collapsed on them.  A third was confirmed dead from a heart attack brought on by the stress of the quake.  A wall in Huixtla crushed a man when a building collapsed.

Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina said on the radio that a newborn was killed when hit by a collapsing wall but emergency personnel did not confirm it.

Massive power outages have left most of Guatemala without electricity.  Early reports had hundreds of homes with significant damage and utility poles down for hundreds of miles.

Boko Haram Bombs Nigerian Marketplace

The Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram bombed a market in northern Nigeria Tuesday morning leaving dozens dead and at least 50 injured.

Witnesses say that the bomb was located under a load of charcoal that was in a pickup parked near the market in Maiduguri.  The bomb was powerful enough to reduce sales stalls to rubble and even completely destroy nearby vehicles.

A trader said the bomb went off just before 8 a.m. local time, before most of the traders and customers arrived for daily business.

Officials cordoned off the area, refusing to allow access because of previous patterns of Boko Haram bombings where secondary devices were timed to hit rescue and emergency personnel.

The attack is the second major assault on a shopping area by Boko Haram in the last two weeks.  Last week a bombing at a major shopping area in the nation’s capital of Abuja killed 24 and wounded dozens.

Nigerian military sources reported the arrest Monday night of a prominent businessman who they say had been working with Boko Haram by funding many of their terror attacks.  They stated the businessman, Babuji Ya’ari, had been working with a vigilante group as a cover to provide information to the terrorists.

Boko Haram Kills Dozens In Church Attacks

Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram launched a major offensive against churches in northern Nigeria Sunday, leaving dozens dead and injured.

Witnesses say the terrorists descended during worship services and set fire to church buildings with Christians inside.  When the Christians attempted to flee the flames, the terrorists would gun them down with automatic weapons.

A vigilante group in the village of Kwada said that at least 30 victims have been confirmed dead and the death toll was likely to rise significantly because a number of people fled into the bush and were chased by armed terrorists.

At least four churches were burned to the ground during the assault, including one church that was started by American missionaries in the 1920s.  In addition to the churches, the terrorists set fire to the homes of Christians in at least two communities.

Officials say the terrorists also attacked the village of Kautikari to continue their assault but they have not been able to get a count of the dead and wounded.

“Satan’s Son” Sentenced To Life For Killing Christian Woman

A man who identified himself as “Satan’s Son” will be spending the rest of his life behind bars.

A Dallas judge sentenced Randy Torres, 23, to life in prison without parole for the killing of 55-year-old Cathy Wilder in June 2010.  Torres stabbed the woman repeatedly after he invited her to his mobile home.

Torres lured the victim by saying he wanted to have a Bible study, prayer and to learn more about Jesus.  The body was found with a note on it that was signed “Satan’s Son.”

Wilder’s family said that she was a committed Christian who was dedicated to helping others come to Christ.  Her husband had warned her not to go visit the young man the day of her death but she said that she had to “help people with God wherever I can.”

Torres went to a bar after the killing and then called police to turn himself in.  He said that he stabbed the woman in the back so hard it broke the knife’s handle and he had to get another knife.  He said he enjoyed the killing and would have kept on killing other people.

Dallas police officer Sean Moses said in testimony the killing was one of the goriest he’d ever seen in his career.

Ebola Outbreak “Totally Out Of Control”

Doctors with Borders say the Ebola outbreak in west Africa is now “totally out of control.”

“The reality is clear that the epidemic is now in a second wave,” Bart Janssens of Doctors Without Borders said. “And, for me, it is totally out of control.”

The group also said they are being stretched to the limit in their ability to respond to the outbreak.  They’re issuing a call for other international aid groups to help them try to contain the outbreak and treat the infected patients.

“It’s the first time in an Ebola epidemic where (Doctors Without Borders) teams cannot cover all the needs, at least for treatment centers,” Janssens said.

He added there is a significant increase in the problem.

“I’m absolutely convinced that this epidemic is far from over and will continue to kill a considerable amount of people, so this will definitely end up the biggest ever,” Janssens said.

Janssens said the World Health Organization, which acknowledged this week that the death toll with this outbreak is the highest in world history, is not doing enough to motivate the leaders of the infected countries to stop the spread.

Dual Tornadoes Destroy Nebraska Town

Two people, including a 5-year-old child, are dead after a pair of tornadoes ripped through a small Nebraska town.

Officials say the town of Pilger, Nebraska was obliterated when a pair of tornadoes about a mile apart struck the town.  The National Storm Prediction Center said that the twisters appeared to be EF-2 or EF-3 with maximum cyclonic winds of 165 miles per hour.

“Pilger is gone,” Sanford Goshorn, Stanton County Director of Emergency Management told Reuters.  “The tornado cut right through the center of town.”  He said all the services to the town from electricity to water were gone.  The entire community was evacuated under order of emergency management officials.

A meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Omaha said that two powerful tornadoes on the ground at the same time in the same location is very rare.  The Storm Prediction Center said they recorded at least four tornadoes touching down in the area of the deadly supercell.

Area hospitals reported at least 16 people were hospitalized in critical condition.

Christians Fleeing Mosul, Other Iraqi Cities

Christians throughout Iraq have suddenly found their lives in danger as Islamic extremists attempt to overthrow the government.

The Al-Qaeda related group Islamic State of Iraq has launched a military style offensive against the Iraqi government, taking over the cities of Mosul and Maiji.  The cities allow them to control the nation’s largest oil refinery and over $425 million in gold stored in the Mosul central bank.

In addition to the attempt to overthrow the government, they have been killing Christians who refuse to convert to Islam.

“What we are living and what we have seen over the last two days is horrible and catastrophic. The priory of Mar Behnam and other churches fell into the hands of the rebels this morning … and now they have come here and entered Qaraqosh five minutes ago, and we are now surrounded and threatened with death … pray for us,” Fr. Najeeb Michaeel wrote online from Mosul.

“Many thousands of armed men from the Islamic Groups of Da’ash (another name for ISIS or ISIL) have attacked the city of Mosul for the last two days. They have assassinated adults and children. The bodies have been left in the streets and in the houses by the hundreds, without pity. The regular forces and the army have also fled the city, along with the governor.”

After the last decade of attacks from Islamists, the number of Christians in Iraq has fallen from 1.5 million to less than 400,000.

Islamic Terrorists Impersonate Pastors; Kill 45 Christians

A group of Nigerian Christians are dead after Islamic terrorists impersonated pastors.

Members of Boko Haram entered the city Maidugur proclaiming they wanted to speak to the community about the “righteous path of God.”  Villagers say the men said they came to preach and once the crowd was gathered, pulled out weapons and began to fire point-blank at the Christians who came to worship.

More gunmen then stormed into the village, destroying mobile phone towers to try and keep news of the attack from spreading and destroyed several houses belonging to the murder victims.  They also burned down a Roman Catholic Church and government office.

The attack on Maidugur came after an assault early last week where Boko Haram impersonated government troops and said they were protecting villages in Borno province before launching assaults.

Nigeria, now considered the largest economy in Africa, has rejected offers of help from the United States and other western nations in stopping Boko Haram beyond searching for 200 kidnapped girls.
