Al-Qaeda Master Bomb Maker Struck By Drone

Ibrahim al-Asiri, the master bomb maker for Al-Qaeda who is a major target for international intelligence groups, has possibly been wounded in one of last week’s U.S. drone strikes in Yemen.

NBC reported that American officials are feverishly trying to confirm reports that al-Asiri was inside a car targeted for carrying four members of the terrorist network. Two of the terrorists were killed and another wounded along with al-Asiri. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda Assaults Yemeni Military Base

At least 14 soldiers were killed when al-Qaeda terrorists launched an assault on a military base in southern Yemen. The dawn attack began with a terrorist car bombing followed by fierce fighting between troops and terrorists.

The attack is possibly in response to a US drone attack on Thursday that killed seven terrorists. Security officials reported the terrorists had been meeting at a farm outside of the city of Jaar. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda Attempts To Assassinate Yemeni Minister

One day after Al-Qaeda’s #2 leader in Yemen was killed in a drone strike, the terrorist group struck back in an attempted assassination of Yemen’s defense minister.

The attack near government offices in Sanaa killed 11 including 7 of Major General Muhammad Nasir Ahmad’s personal bodyguards. A car bomb detonated as the minister’s motorcade passed the booby-trapped vehicle. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda Leader Killed In Yemen

The second in command of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has been killed in an operation lead by Yemeni government forces.

Said al-Shihri, a Saudi Arabian national released by the US from Guantanamo Bay in 2007, was reportedly killed by a strike from a US drone along with six other terrorists. The Yemeni government has been fighting Al-Qaeda Islamist militants in the southern part of the country for the past few months. Continue reading

Al-Qaeda Kills 45 In Yemen

Yemeni government officials announced that al-Qaeda is responsible for a homicide bombing this weekend that killed 45 people and injured dozens.

The homicide bomber walked into a funeral in the city of Jaar and detonated his explosive belt. The service was conducted by a group of tribal militiamen who have supported the Yemeni military in their attempts to eliminate al-Qaeda in the nation. Continue reading
