Vote Your Faith

   Matthew 5:13-16

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how shall it be made salty? It is from then on good for nothing but to be thrown out and to be trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

In Matthew 5, we as Christians are given two clear examples to not just live our lives, but also to represent Jesus Christ daily. We live in a country founded on Christian values, and those values are being eroded before our very eyes.

One of the most important civic duties of American citizens, especially Christians, is the right to vote. We must make sure with each election that the voice of our faith is heard.

Most of us don’t engage daily with politics, and when we do, we generally are most concerned about who is President. But we cannot forget our Representatives and Senators, much less our Governors, State Legislators, Mayors, and the multitude of other positions in Federal, State, and Local Governments.

How can we make sure that when we arrive at the ballot box that we are casting our votes for the right reasons? How can we make sure we vote our faith?

It starts with being informed.

Performing research on candidates and issues is one of the most difficult tasks you can pursue. We recommend doing three different things.

   1. Know the Platforms.

With very few exceptions, there are two major political parties who control the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. We have seen countless times in the last four years how much these party lines are crucial in deciding what happens in our nation.

This is why we absolutely believe that you must know these platforms. We have made these available to you with the links below. Please print these out and study them. We encourage you to vote for whichever platform fits your values and faith.

   2. Know the Candidates and Issues.

There are far too many candidates and issues for us to even attempt collecting them and organizing them in an effective manner to bring to you. Thankfully, there are others far more qualified and have the proper resources to help you with your research!

Our dear friend, Dr. David Barton, and his team at Wallbuilders, have created a website where you can select your state and local area to learn more about the issues at hand, and the candidates running for office. Before you vote, we recommend that you visit his website, http://www.ChristianVoterGuide.com to get informed.

You can also register to vote through that website if you haven’t already done so.

   3. Encourage others to vote as well.

It is estimated that approximately 55.4 percent of eligible voters participated in the 2016 election. Half of that number elected our current President, Donald J. Trump.

We have learned through many of our guests that just a small fraction of voters can sway an election. Encourage your family, friends, and loves ones not just to register to vote, but to show up on November 3 to vote their faith.
