Let’s Talk 2016! (Pt. 1)

Sharon Couchman

So here we are at the beginning of 2016.  What’s ahead?  Is there anything positive to look forward to?

Is there any Good News for this year?

Each year I seek God for some insight on the upcoming year.  While inquiring of the Lord about 2016 I kept hearing the words “GOD FIRST” and “INCREASE.”

GOD MUST BE FIRST in every area of our life.  Total surrender is needed as never before.  Our focus must always come back to God — Who He is in us and who we are in Him.

Matthew 6:33 – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

When God is first everything goes better in life.  God is bigger than any problem or circumstance. If we want to have peace, our attention must stay fixed on the Lord.  He is the source of peace and everyone needs peace during these turbulent times.

Isaiah 26:3 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

So, what’s the increase about?

In Matthew 24 Jesus gave a description of end times events that would be occurring at the same time so we know these things will continue to increase.  A lot of current news relates to the fulfillment of Bible prophecies.

While the world is spiraling downward, God desires His Church to rise up! As the Body of Christ we are to rise and shine for the Lord. Jesus referred to us as the light of the world.  How brightly are you shining for Jesus?

As the darkness is increasing around us, Christian are sensing and experiencing relentless spiritual warfare on a deeper level.  We’re all aware of the increased onslaughts from hell.  Christians and patriots recognize that America is declining.

The faith of God’s people is being tested more intensely than ever before.  Core Christian beliefs are being mocked, ridiculed and disdained in our society. The devouring forces of hell are blasting God’s people with sickness, sorrow, confusion, despair, financial duress and doubt.

This opposition is trying to wear down Christians and get us to doubt God’s character and His Word.  But Friend, keep reading – there is still hope in God!  Your future is bright with God in your life.  We are so thankful our Lord and Savior has a better way, a hope and a future for His people.

This increased criticism of Christianity can actually help us to re-evaluate our personal beliefs.  Are your beliefs steadfast enough to endure persecution?  What do you truly believe?  Do you still believe God is a good God?  Do you still believe God loves you and is always there to help you?  What truths are embedded in your heart that will sustain you through trying times?

Your belief system must be rooted and grounded in the Word of God. The Bible has been tried and proven to be absolutely true. God’s Word doesn’t change just because our culture does.  While men fail, leaders fail, governments fail, and we fail — God NEVER fails!

This is a time like never before in history.  The devil and his workers have pulled out all stops to try and convince you to give up.  As determined as the enemy is to defeat us, we have to be more determined to keep our feet firmly planted on biblical truths.

You are here for a purpose and you were created for such a time as this!  Hold your head up – you are a child of the King!  God will continue to guide you as you give Him first place.  As you go into 2016 and beyond, remember God will meet you there.  He promises to never leave or forsake you.
