A severe storm in Colorado killed three people in flash flooding and drove people from hundreds of homes.

Roads have been closed because of high water and storm debris. Rescue crews working to reach stranded people have been hampered by the debris.

Up to seven inches of rain hit the Boulder, Colorado area in the third straight day of rain. Residents in multiple towns were ordered to evacuate because of rising floodwaters.

Commerce City ordered evacuations because of a looking dam failure at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. The dam is an embankment holding water 300 yards wide, 15-20 feet deep and ¾ of a mile long.

“It’s going to take us a while to rebuild from this, no question,” Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said during an afternoon news briefing. Hickenlooper told KBCO radio that the state had received the equivalent of 100 inches of snow in 24 hours.

  1. They say that Bolder was split in half and one town Lyons was cut off from electricity and roads. 2,000 people live there. we live in the springs. we are staying in our house off the roads & planning on eating our favorite soup Jim’s potato soup.

  2. According to the recent Denver Channel 7 News–fifteen inches of rain have fallen in Boulder with almost that much elsewhere! With the wild fires and now this, I think the Lord God is trying to tell the people of this state something–like wake up and consider your ways!
