Massive Rains Create Widespread Flooding, Delays

Massive rains have created widespread flash flooding all across the Chicago area, closing expressways and submerging numerous streets, basements and viaducts.

As of 10 a.m., flooding had closed the Edens at Pratt. The Kennedy at Montrose and parts of the Eisenhower also were closed. The inbound Bishop Ford was experiencing major backups with lanes closed. Other expressways had major delays. Continue reading →

Pakistan Troops Rush To Earthquake Site

Pakistan troops are rushing to a remote region of the Balochistan province to help with rescue efforts after a massive 7.8 magnitude quake.

The region is at least 10 hours from the provincial capital by car and the route is extremely dangerous. Rescue groups have been hesitant to travel because of Islamic extremists who routinely kidnap travellers on that road. Continue reading →

Children Buried Alive In Kenyan Landslide

Heavy rains drove flooding and landslides that have killed 36 people this month and left more than 52,000 people out of their homes.

Two children were killed Wednesday as they slept when a flood of mud and water engulfed their home. Rescue workers at the scene are trying to recover the bodies. Several other homes were destroyed in the landslide in the village of Olutrot in Narok county. Continue reading →

FBI Uses Store Video To Obtain Suspect Pictures

The FBI has photos of two people who are suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing but has not released the photos to the press.

A Fox News reporter who saw the photos said they are very clear photos of the men. The photos have been distributed only to law enforcement.

According to the reporter, the photo shows one of men with a backpack that appears to match one of the bags used in the attack. The FBI is asking news organizations not to use the photos because they don’t want to risk the investigation.

According to a bulletin released by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, the shrapnel released by the bomb caused the deaths of three people. The shrapnel has been identified as nails, BBs and ball bearings.

The bombs are similar in design to IEDs in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan and have been featured in Al-Qaeda writings.

Murdered Woman’s Daughter Testifies In Gosnell Trial

The daughter of a woman who died because of injuries sustained in Dr. Kermit ’s clinic in Philadelphia testified that her mother had lost consciousness and that clinic staff kept her from attending to her mom.

Karnamaya Mongar, 42, a survivor of 20 months in a refugee camp in Bhutan, died after some unlicensed member of Gosnell’s staff provided her with a fatal combination of oral and intravenous drugs. Continue reading →
