I Pledge Allegiance…

Sharon Couchman

Who has your allegiance today?  Who or what has your loyalty?   Who are you willing to die for?

As we celebrate the 4th of July and all the activities this week, let’s examine our hearts and locate our allegiance.  Keep your focus and beliefs firmly grounded in the Word of God.

As Christians, first and foremost, our allegiance is to God and His Word.  God is our source of everything and the very reason we get up each morning.  Every breath we breathe is a gift from God.

I wanted to share with you the pledge of allegiance to the Bible and the Christian Flag.  Some of you may remember reciting this in Bible school and some probably have never heard —

Pledge to the Bible bibles-1616026

“I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God’s Holy Word, I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path and will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.”

This simple Bible pledge reflects the importance of God’s Word and the role it plays in the life of a believer.  God’s Word is His love letter to us and gives instructions for a blessed life.

Pledge to the Christian Flag1583r

“I pledge Allegiance to the Christian Flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands, one brotherhood uniting all mankind in service and love.”

Throughout the next few days the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag will be recited thousands of times.

Pledge of Allegiance flag-973746_1280

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United State of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

As we participate in the national pledge let’s always praise and thank God we were chosen to live in America.  Never forget all those who gave their lives for our freedom.  They paid the ultimate price with their life.

We are so blessed to start each day knowing God’s mercies are new every morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23 – “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” KJV

America is still the best country to live in even with all the sobering events that have recently occurred.  Some of our freedoms in America have been taken away, but no man or government can remove our freedom in Christ.  It is a supernatural gift from God.  Whether you live in America or not, there is a freedom found only in Christ available to all.

John 8:36 – “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Your prayers for America and our government are needed now more than ever. The Bible instructs us to pray for our leaders and those in authority over us.  God will bless our nation if we will do it God’s way!

II Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

What a wonderful promise!  What an awesome God we serve!  Let’s all do our part by humbling ourselves, praying, seeking God, repenting, and turning away from all evil.   Then watch with expectation for God to move on behalf of our nation and in our personal lives.

Happy and blessed 4th of July to everyone.

Celebrate and pledge allegiance!

  1. How positively beautiful. Thank you so much for running that speech. It’s timeless. God bless everyone on this day, and always. And may America always be one nation under God-a light that shines in darkness.
