Mourning to Joy reconciliation memorial is a post-abortion ministry offered only to women who have been through abortion.
At the young age of 17, Lori Bakker, Founder and President of Lori’s House, began a relationship with a man that would become her husband. They were both young and found themselves completely immersed in the “sex, drugs, and rock & roll” culture. The marriage turned out to be a nightmare of violence and abuse. She escaped the pain with more drugs and then found out she was pregnant.
For Lori, abortion was never a thought, but to keep her spouse, it was the only option. Five times she became pregnant. Five times he demanded she get rid of it. The last abortion left complications that caused her to have a total hysterectomy at the age of 22.
Her story is only one of millions. Whenever Lori Bakker shares her testimony, dozens of women come to her afterwards to share their pain, some who have never talked about their abortion with anyone. These wonderful women are still living with a deep pain that they have carried.
For I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
