2012 Shows Surge In Anti-Semitism

Israeli researchers have released a report showing a significant increase in anti-Semitic attacks in 2012. The report was released on the eve of Israel’s memorial day for the 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis.

The report from Tel Aviv University says that anti-Semitic violence increase 30 percent in 2012. The report showed 686 attacks in 34 countries. 273 of the attacks, 40 percent, involved violence against people.

A March 2012 shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse, France to a series of attacks that followed in France. Physical assaults on Jews in France doubled in 2012.

“This shows that the desire to harm Jews is deeply rooted among extremist Muslims and right-wingers, regardless of events in the Middle East,” chief researcher Roni Stauber told the BBC.

The report also noted the legalization and increase of Neo-Nazi groups in Europe. In some countries, neo-Nazi members are sitting members of parliament.
