Algerian Earthquake Causes Mass Panic

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Algeria’s state news agency says a 5.1 magnitude earthquake has caused massive damage in the northern part of the country.

The quake, which the U.S. Geological Survey said was magnitude 4.9, hit around 4 a.m. about 25 miles south of the capital city of Algiers.

Rescue officials say at least 11 people were injured. The town of Hammam Melouane, where the quake was centered, is reportedly 90% destroyed because of the poor construction of homes in the area.

Abdelghani Yazouzi told the Associated Press residents fled into the streets in mass panic when the quake caused buildings to collapse. Many spent the night outside in the event of strong aftershock.
