Algerian Military Raids Terrorists Controlling Gas Plant; Hostages Killed

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

Algerian military forces raided a gas plant that had been overtaken by al-Qaeda related terrorists on Wednesday. The raid came after a day long standoff where the terrorists made various demands for the release of their hostages.

At least four hostages were killed in the raid but there has been no final confirmation of the number of foreign workers held captive who survived the ordeal.

The AFP news agency said that as many as 600 Algerians had been freed along with four foreign hostages. Militants sympathetic to the terrorists claim that 34 hostages and 14 kidnappers were killed but military officials would not confirm the report.

British Prime Minister David Cameron warned the situation was “fluid” and that Britons should “be prepared for the possibility of further bad news.”

Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said Algerian government officials told him that they could not reach an agreement with the terrorists Wednesday night and that military intervention was likely today.
