Boko Haram Leader: “We Have Done No Wrong”

A leader of the Nigerian Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram has released a statement that says his group has done nothing wrong and needs to amnesty from the government.

The statement comes after Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan had high level officials looking into amnesty for the group in return for peace. Boko Haram had previously requested amnesty from the government.

Boko Haram is responsible for the deaths of over 2,000 people in northern Nigeria in their campaign to overthrow the government and install strict Sharia Law.

It’s the second time the Nigerian government has considered amnesty when trying to make peace with terrorist groups. In 2009, the government made a deal with militants in the south controlling the oil-rich Niger Delta.
