New Jersey Teen Goes To Court To Protect “Under God”

Mark 13:13 “You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.”

A New Jersey teenager is standing up to a vehement anti-Christian organization that wants to strip “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance.

Samantha Jones, a senior at Highland Regional High School in Blackwood, New Jersey, has filed an official response to the anti-Christian American Humanist Association and their attempts to remove the words from the pledge.

“If anyone wants to remain silent, that is their right. But it is not their right to silence me,” said Jones.  “When I stand up, put my hand over my heart and say the Pledge of Allegiance, I am recognizing that my rights come from God, not from the government.”

The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty is representing the teen in the case.

The anti-Christianists are claiming that the existence of “under God” tells “atheist and humanist children” they are “second-class citizens.”

“the pledge is not a religious creed or a prayer. It is a statement of our nation’s political philosophy that rights come not from the state but from something higher — as our Declaration of Independence puts it, ‘Nature’s God,’” Kristina Arriaga of the Becket Fund said.

  1. WE ARE ALL CITIZENS OF AMERICA BUT SOME OF US PREFER TO BE CITIZENS OF HEAVEN AND WE ARE. GOD BLESS THAT BRAVE GIRL FOR HER STAND FOR RIGHT. WE HAVE THE 1ST. AMENDMENT STILL, DO WE NOT.GOD BLESS YOU YOUNG LADY.

  2. The real issue is that we no longer teach actual history. Our children do not know how God’s intervention during the Revolutionary war changed its outcome. There are two good US History books by Peter Marshall that every American should be required to read. They are “The Light and the Glory” and “From Sea to Shining Sea.” I highly recommend them. I could not put them down.

It is by ignorance and self absorption that the nation our founding fathers fought so hard for is dying before our very eyes. The Lord told us to go into all the world. What we see here in the US is happening because we have failed in our own country.to preach the gospel from the Bible.

  3. If only a third of people want under God removed, then two thirds want it in and I would say that is a majority of the people are still Americans. America was founded on Christian Judeo Principalities and we are still a Christian nation.
People that don’t want to go along with what Americans live by, or their children to hear it, should leave and go where they don’t have to live with our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Nobody is forcing you to stay where you aren’t happy or don’t go along with a country’s ways & beliefs. We Americans don’t want it changed.

  4. Our Nation was founded by our Christian forefathers who fled England for Freedom from the Religious tieranny & gave up everything to become a free Nation under God. Who are you to change what many bled & died to give us our religious freedoms. You may try to change History but it is written on our money,
statuary in DC, National documents etc. which you can’t change.
