Swiss Organization To Allow Suicide For Healthy Elderly People

2 Timothy 3:1-8 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.

A Swiss right-to-die and assisted suicide organization has announced they are no longer going to limit their services to people suffering from some kind of terminal illness.

The group, “Exit”, has announced that “suicide due to old age” is now going to be considered a valid reason for use of their assisted suicide techniques.  The group says that older adults who are experiencing psychological or physical problems can now choose to end their life rather than deal with issues like arthritis.

The group also said they will be streamlining the process for elderly patients who do not want to experience the lengthy process for assisted suicide.

Assisted death is legal in Switzerland.

The Swiss Medical Association was quick to issue a condemnation of the group’s actions, saying that their decision could cause significant problems for elderly citizens whose families just don’t want to care for them in later years.  Families could force family members to say they want to die when they really don’t wish to die.

  1. It may sound terrible, but it can be a very real problem for many. My personal situation is another view..I am a Christian. My 3 well educated, financially secure, healthy adult married children no longer are in touch with me because of my faith! They are in California , I am a canadian in BC. Once they were adults, I went Off to MERCY SHIPS and Youth With A Mission out on the field overseas. They wrote their Mother off…at almost 80 and still going strong but who will take care of me one day? Thankfully I know and Jim Bakker knows but most people don’t know about our faith and hope in Jesus…if I didn’t the Swiss plan would look like the waty to go! So without our faith, we would easily see the Swiss as dealing with the problem quite sensibly. Donna
