A terrorist attack at a soccer field in Karachi has killed at least 11 people and wounded more than two-dozen others.

Witnesses say many of the victims are children between 6 and 15 years old.

Local officials believe the target of the attack was a provincial minister. The BBC reports that Javed Naghori was at the match but was unharmed by the attack. It was the second time this year civilians died in an alleged assassination attempt.

“When the match ended, we came out and as soon as we came out there was a blast,” Ameer Ali, who was injured in the blast, told Reuters news agency. “Everyone started running in panic. Many people were hit, which scared everyone.”

Doctors were removing pieces of metal and ball bearings from the victims.
