Venezuelan Government Fighting Serious Power Outages

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

The Venezuelan government, facing the fallout of a massive blackout that shut down almost ¾ of the country, is creating a security force with the sole purpose of protecting the electrical grid.

While major cities have had power restored many rural areas are still without power.

Energy minister Jesse Chacon claimed the blackout was due to “destabilizing efforts” of government opposition. He blamed the blackout on a metal grill that had been tampered with and fell on electric lines. Officials with the government claimed all power was restored quickly but rural areas had people on Twitter reporting power restoration took hours.

The blackout disrupted the underground transport systems leaving people stuck in trains in tunnels. Thousands of workers were sent home because their businesses couldn’t operate without power.
