California Wildfire Growing Too Fast To Map Size
A wildfire raging through the Angeles National Forest is spreading so fast that the U.S. Forest Service is having trouble tracking its size.
“This is extremely old, dry fuel,” U.S. Forest Service Incident Commander Norm Walker stated at a press conference. Over 40 square miles of brush have been confirmed as burned including some that hasn’t burned since 1929. Continue reading

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook northern California Thursday night.

A federal judge has issued a ruling saying the city of Stockton, California would be unable to offer basic government services without bankruptcy protection.

“Valley Fever” On Rise in California; Arizona
A new report is showing that a fungal infection called Valley Fever is up across the Southwest United States.
More than 22,000 cases were confirmed in 2011, a rise from 2,265 cases in 1998 according to the CDC. The report only looks at cases in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. Texas also houses the fungus that causes the disease but they do not report statistics to the CDC. Continue reading
