Officials say at least 13 people were buried alive when a landslide destroyed homes on a hillside in Veracruz state. Four American airlines suspended flights to and from Mexico City on Thursday thanks to an explosion from the Popocatepetl Volcano.

A series of earthquakes rattled southern Mexico Tuesday driving residents into the streets as quake alarms squealed through the countryside.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported two quakes within ten minutes of each other with the first striking at 8:04 a.m. Central Time. The 5.5 magnitude quake centered on the Pacific Coast and was 227 miles south-southeast of Mexico City. The 5.5 magnitude was a downgrade from the initial reports of 5.9. Continue reading →
The Pacific Ring Of Fire had bookending earthquakes in the early morning. The first struck around 1 a.m. Central Time U.S. in the middle of the Gulf of California rocking awake residents of both Baja California and mainland Mexico.
The quake, centered approximately 63 miles southwest of Los Mochis, registered 6.0 on the Richter scale. Local officials reported that residents were panicking over the quake but that no major damage was reported. Continue reading →
