Bombing Campaign Kills 25 In Iraq

A bombing campaign carried out through a series of car and truck bombs roared through multiple towns and villages in northern Iraq with at least 25 confirmed dead.

Over 2.5 Million Syrians Displaced By Civil War

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent relief organization has released figures with the United Nations showing that over 2.5 million civilians have been displaced in the country since the start of the nation’s civil war.

UN refugee agency spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said the group’s estimate was “very conservative” and said because of people on the run or in hiding it’s impossible to guess the actual number of people displaced by the war. Continue reading

Protesters In Greece Throw Gasoline Bombs At Parliament

Greek police used tear gas to disperse a crowd of anti-austerity protesters who attacked the government’s parliament using gasoline bombs.

The protesters are angry about spending cuts of 11.5 billion euros ($15 billion U.S.) the government needs to put in place to secure the country’s next round of bailout funds. The country’s next 31 billion euro ($39.8 billion U.S.) installment is being sought to help continue government operations. Mass Murder Plot Stopped In Maryland

Police have labeled a mass murder plot in Maryland as a possible copycat attempt of the Dark Knight Rises massacre in Colorado.

Neil Prescott, 28, referred to himself as “a joker” like the theatre killer in Aurora, Colorado. Prescott called his employer and said he was coming in to “shoot the place up” after finding out that he was about to be fired, according to police sources. Continue reading
