My Daily Walk (Pt. 3)

I will humble myself and walk daily in humility before my God.

2 Chronicles 32:24-26 NCV

At that time Hezekiah became so sick he almost died. When he prayed to the LORD, the LORD spoke to him and gave him a sign. But Hezekiah did not thank God for his kindness, because he was so proud. So the LORD was angry with him and the people of Judah and Jerusalem. But later Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem were sorry and stopped being proud, so the LORD did not punish them while Hezekiah was alive.

2 Samuel 15:30 NCV (David always humbled himself before God!)

David went up the Mount of Olives, crying as he went. He covered his head and went barefoot. All the people with David covered their heads also and cried as they went.

2 Chronicles 34:27-28 NCV (This is scripture God gave me this week!)

When you heard my words against this place and its people, you became sorry for what you had done and you humbled yourself before me. You tore your clothes to show how upset you were, and you cried in my presence. This is why I have heard you, says the LORD.

Numbers 12:3 NCV

(Now Moses was very humble. He was the least proud person on earth.)

Philippians 2 NCV – (Jesus humbled himself)

Does your life in Christ give you strength? Does his love comfort you? Do we share together in the spirit? Do you have mercy and kindness? If so, make me very happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and having one mind and purpose. When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.

Be Unselfish Like Christ

In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus.

Christ himself was like God in everything.

But he did not think that being equal with God was something to be used for his own benefit.

But he gave up his place with God and made himself nothing.

He was born to be a man

and became like a servant.

And when he was living as a man,

he humbled himself and was fully obedient to God,

even when that caused his death — death on a cross.

So God raised him to the highest place.

God made his name greater than every other name

so that every knee will bow to the name of Jesus —

everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.

And everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

and bring glory to God the Father.

Ephesians 4:1-4 NCV (My last verse on humility from prison.)

I am in prison because I belong to the Lord. God chose you to be his people, so I urge you now to live the life to which God called you. Always be humble, gentle, and patient, accepting each other in love. You are joined together with peace through the Spirit, so make every effort to continue together in this way.

  1. Thank you so much Jim for sharing these. A young man in our church, (husband and father of 3) who was an attorney did some things, found guilty and convicted. He is now serving a prison sentence. His wife was going to divorce him but he asked that our Pastor visit him. In one of those visits he was “genuinely” saved by grace! Still serving another 4 years… God is repairing… the shame… the guilt… the loss of respect… relationship with his wife and children of whom 2 have not forgiven him.

I have printed parts 1-3 and have given them to his wife to send to him. She was so blown away when I shared YOUR story. She never heard of you but wanted to know more of YOUR transformation and how could something like this happen! I shared your website with her and also your book “I WAS WRONG” which she is also getting for her husband. Their marriage is working on being restored, but my oh my it breaks my heart the pain of brokenness each in this precious family are going through.

This is where rubber meets the road… this is where we get down and dirty…. this is where being a Christian on both sides of such a situation begins the testing and proving the LIVING Word in places such as Psalm 139 through us! Thank you for leading the way through the valley of shadows for those incarcerated, broke, busted and disgusted yet… yet seeking Jesus with all their hearts!

What you went through is proving to help, serve & lead others… thank you.

Blessings from here in California, In service to our Lord,
    Kathlene

  2. I meant to write that I am reading your commentaries or notes on humbleness. “Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.” from Proverbs 27:18 in the Holy Bible (King James Version)
