Many go through life without seriously considering what or why they believe certain things. It is so important to be selective in what you believe to be effective in what you receive. If you focus and believe in the negative, that is what will be apparent to you. However, if you focus on the positive and agree with God’s Word, you will have a better outlook and expect the goodness of the Lord.
Years ago relationship with Christ was called “The Great Confession”.
Hebrews 3:1 says “Jesus is the High Priest of our profession”. Here profession and confessions are the same in meaning: Continue reading →
If you didn’t read last’s week Part 1, please do because it lays the groundwork for our study this week. Also, I think you will enjoy my personal struggle to get a good night’s sleep and the adventure with my cat, Herbie.
Let’s continue now by learning from Jesus’ example regarding rest.
Our Lord Jesus took on the skin of humanity and lived His life here on this Earth for us. He knows what it is like to be human. He knew when to act and when to trust, what to give His attention to and what to release to the Father’s hands. This is a key that we must all learn in order to wake up refreshed and revived for each new day. Gaining wisdom in this area will help you to do God’s will and avoid burnout. Continue reading →
This week’s devotion is about resting in the Lord and getting a good night’s sleep. But first, I want to share with you a personal experience regarding sleep.
I want to introduce you to my cat Herbie who is almost 14 years old. He is half-Siamese/half-Tabby. The Siamese part of him is very vocal and meows a lot. The Tabby part is very gentle and affectionate. He is quite responsive when you interact with him verbally and his purr sounds more like singing.
For years Herbie slept quietly at the foot of my bed, but several months ago his behavior changed. He began developing a bad habit of meowing incessantly at night trying to wake me up during some of my best sleep time. He either wanted to play, go outside or just talk. Also, Herbie would lovingly and tenderly “chew” on my finger to wake me up. This ritual interrupted my sleep cycle and caused much frustration for me. I needed to sleep! His disturbing routine resulted in many baggy eyes and sluggish days for me. Continue reading →
I wrote this in 15 minutes and all of the Scriptures are spread throughout the Bible that back up this message. Start with Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and all of Jesus’ words in red letters, all of the prophets both major and minor, all the other books of the Bible have bold people not afraid to be an offense.
The Church is so weak-minded today. It is clear to see a dysfunctional church world when they allow the prophets to be mocked for calling for repentance of sin, restoration of the fallen, and preaching God’s soon judgment.
Over and over, I write on topics directly from the Bible relevant today. And, actual Christians get upset, get a religious spirit, misrepresent the intention, and ignore common sense. It dumbfounds me. Continue reading →
I remember a time in my life that I could not get released from the memory of wrong things I had done in the past. I could not forgive myself. I would cry out to God for forgiveness and could not get anywhere. I knew if I died I would go to HELL! The feeling was unbearable.
This was a very hard time in my life. My husband would come home and hear me crying out to God from outside. It was like my words were not going any further than the ceiling. I had no peace. Continue reading →
I am grateful that I‘m learning to trust in the unseen God who is always in my daily life. I look forward to the impossible things of life that surrounds me because these are opportunities for God to show His faithfulness.
As Christians God’s Spirit dwells in you and me. I’m honored to say that I know God as the Almighty One. He is the One we can trust throughout eternity. Continue reading →
What would our world be today without love?
My Mother and Father loved us enough to correct and teach us principles that would stay with us our whole life. I remember whenever I would get into an argument with my sister that my Daddy would make us stand in front of the living room stove and kiss and make up. We had to say we were sorry and this was done in front of whoever was there at the time.
It was one of the hardest things I had to do. The last thing I wanted to do was kiss my sister when I was so angry with her. Often I thought to myself that maybe I could say I was sorry and then be done with it; or maybe I could cross my fingers and pretend. But NO, that would not do it. Well, before it was over we would both end up laughing, forgiving and loving each other. Continue reading →
TAKE YOUR MEDICINE!! How many times have you heard that in your life??!! When taking prescribed medicine it is essential that you take them on schedule and in the proper proportion or they will not work properly. We are very thankful for the medical profession and the help they give many people, but do you realize that God also has provided us medicine in His Word for healing??
It is so important to share this message with you because the Number 1 and most often requested prayer request we receive in the Prayer Center is for healing. So many are sick and dying before their time and yet our Lord made it clear that He is a Healing God, the Great Physician. Jesus suffered greatly for our healing.
When you are in desperate need of healing and the medical field has exhausted their ability to help you, the Word of God and His healing power is your only hope. The Word of God is powerful, it is life and health to your body. It is not just a historical record of past occurrences in centuries gone by. Continue reading →
I have been raised in church all my life for which I am very thankful. I have seen many people saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, encouraged and healed by the Spirit of the Lord.
The greatest of healings for me was the healing of my mother when I was 17 in November 1955. My mom at the age of 49 was in a semi-conscious state for 10 months due to a terminal spinal disease. Six doctors and four hospitals said she would not live and sent her home. My grandmother kept a bedside vigil ministering and praying for mom to be healed. Continue reading →
Several years ago my twin sister (Nelda) and I were attending a children’s church camp as counselors. It was a special time for us as it was our first time at a church camp. We were also celebrating our birthday. Little did we know that we were in for an incredible experience which we would never forget.
There were many kids of various ages and backgrounds at the camp along with several adults. During the day we were free to do whatever there was to do–swim, play games, horseback riding, etc. In the evening and late into the night we had church. Let me tell you something–kids know how to have church! They are not afraid or ashamed to let God have his way. (We adults could take a lesson from them!) Continue reading →
