The Greatest Message I’ve Ever Heard

Clete Snellenberger

I have been raised in church all my life for which I am very thankful. I have seen many people saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, encouraged and healed by the Spirit of the Lord.

The greatest of healings for me was the healing of my mother when I was 17 in November 1955. My mom at the age of 49 was in a semi-conscious state for 10 months due to a terminal spinal disease. Six doctors and four hospitals said she would not live and sent her home. My grandmother kept a bedside vigil ministering and praying for mom to be healed.

A family friend wanted to request special prayer for my mother so she decided to attend an Oral Robert’s meeting. She drove to Tulsa, OK and was standing in the prayer line at exactly 4:30 p.m. At the exact same time a miracle was occurring at my house. In an instant my mom suddenly leaped out of bed and ran to me, grabbing and hugging me and saying, “My son, my son!” All of us rejoiced and my mom lived to the ripe old age of 92!!

Think of it – one minute my mom was in a semi-conscious state and the next minute totally awake, alert and running through the house! Friend, healing is an absolute truth of God’s Word and I know it is for you today!! The Bible says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is your Healer!

Sometimes we can sit in church like I did and not hear the whole Gospel. I had attended church for over 30 years and in all that time only once did I hear the greatest message that totally changed my life. It was a teaching about our true identity and that we are a three-part being — spirit, soul and body. I believe this understanding from I Thessalonians 5:23 is one of the greatest truths in the Bible. I would like to share that message with you today.

In simple understanding, your spirit is the real you. It is where God dwells when you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. The same spirit that was in Jesus is now in you. This is the part of you that communes with God. It is where revelation from God’s Word comes from.

“Our soul” is made up of three parts – mind, will and emotion. Our mind is where our learning capabilities come from and 80% of that is received through the eye gate. What you see in the natural and what you focus your attention upon the most affects your thinking and perceptions.

“Our will” when given over to the Holy Spirit’s help can be channeled. God gave you a free will to choose. When you submit your will to the will of God then you receive His best for your life. “Our emotions” are so important to our outlook on life. When your emotions are submitted to Him, just the mention of the Name of Jesus brings a closeness of His presence.

I have thanked God many times over for the understanding of this subject.

We are a spirit man, with a soul, living in a body with five senses, to be renewed by the Word of God. Romans 12:1,2

A scriptural song which was written by David Ingles describes who we really are and it was inspired by God’s Word in II Corinthians 5:17.

We are called by God to walk in the spirit, to submit to the Spirit of God and to listen to God’s Spirit for direction. When you are born again, God’s Spirit dwells inside your spirit that you may know that you are a child of God.

Romans 8:15-16– For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” KJV

Now that you have the understanding of who you really are–a spirit who has a soul and lives in a body – it is important to discern where your thoughts are coming from and what inner voice you are listening to. Always make sure it agrees with God’s Word. I’m praying for you!
